History of Methodism in Islington

The modern London Borough of Islington was created in 1965 from the amalgamation of the old Metropolitan Boroughs of Islington and Finsbury. The history of Methodism in Finsbury is well recorded elsewhere, as the location of the Foundery (the first Methodist Meeting House in London), and its successor the City Road Chapel. This article therefore describes the history of Methodism in the Parish of Islington (later the Metropolitan Borough of Islington).
