Harvest

Bags of grain

Harvest is a time of thanksgiving; a time to thank God for the abundance of his creation. Crops and produce are grown and come to maturity at different times of the year but traditionally it is during September/October that we celebrate Harvest Thanksgiving.

Although Islington and Camden are urban areas we  are aware that we are dependent upon the farmland outside the Greater London conurbation. While few these days are directly involved in farming, it is right that we remember the food that is part of God's great abundance and give thanks and remember and pray for those who grow, transport and produce the food we eat and drink.

In the Islington and Camden Circuit, each of the churches celebrate Harvest in their own way. We also support the work of the All We Can - the Methodist Relief and Development Fund that exists to bring about significant and long term change in some of the world's most marginalised communities, and to empower people to change structures that are oppressive and unjust.

Gifts of tinned and non-perishable food are welcome. These are donated to local charities that help those in food poverty. We celebrate with following Harvest Festival Services
Caledonian Road Methodist Church -  Sunday 10 October 2021 at 10 am
Archway Methodist Church - Sunday 10 October 2021 at 11.00 am
